precise amounts now due from each of them under various headings

of expenditure which should have been defroyed by them under the

terms of the scholarships (tuition fees, board and lodging allow- onces, etc.) On December 19th, 1925, the Vice-Chancellor wrote

Mr. Fox enclosing the requested statements:

In this letter he

states that neither the Chihli, Hupeh or Conton Governments has

contested the claim.

On the 8th January, 1926, the members of the Senate

were circulated with a copy of letter from the Foreign Office,

dated November 10th, addressed to the Under Secretary of State,

Colonial Office, stating that the question of monies due the

University of Hongkong from various Government sin China would

be brought to the notice of the Boxer Indemnity Advisory Com-

mittee when that Committee was constituted.

8. Since January of this year there have been no further

developments and nothing has been done to bring about p settle-

ment of the debts in question.

A consolidated and detailed statement of the debts,

according to the latest computation, is attached.
